Gemma Langlands

Clinical background

Gemma began her career in the NHS, gaining experience across orthopaedics, neurology, medicine of the elderly and rheumatology before specialising in sports and musculoskeletal physiotherapy.

She spent 18 years as part of the physiotherapy team at FASIC, University of Edinburgh, where she ran the East Lothian satellite clinic, lectured and contributed to the sports medicine team.

Alongside East Lothian Physiotherapy, Gemma works as an Advanced Practice Physiotherapist for the NHS in Edinburgh. She has also been Lead Physiotherapist for the Performance Athletes in Schools programme for more than a decade.

Her sporting experience includes work with the Scottish Rugby Union, Judo Scotland, Scottish Hockey and Scottish Athletics.

  • MSc Sports and Exercise Physiotherapy, Distinction
  • World Rugby accredited First Aid Educator
  • AACP approved acupuncture training and Acupuncture for Sport
  • APPI Pilates matwork qualified instructor
  • Society of Orthopaedic Medicine qualified
